Preferred Qualifications Position Summary
This position leads the Franklin OIT Systems Management team and is responsible for achieving the college's strategic vision for college-level technology services. This position oversees multiple complex projects with a college-wide scope, including fiscal responsibility and careful coordination with institutional stakeholders and/or external vendors. It involves excellent organization, problem-solving, customer service, and communication skills. This position provides managerial and technical leadership as it supervises, coaches, and mentors team members. This position oversees the college back-end services including technical support for faculty and staff, computer labs, and classrooms. This includes technical support for the college's core infrastructure, research services, and provides consultation on a wide array of IT services including server hosting and support, guidance on technology budgeting for grant proposals, and best practices for data storage and backup solutions. This position serves as a representative of Franklin OIT for various college and campus groups, striving for innovation and contributing to the development of college-level and university-wide IT standards and practices in alignment with relevant institution, system-wide, state, and federal guidelines, policies, and/or law. This position will work with other campus groups, information security, and various agencies to serve as a technical compliance resource for the college and should be familiar with compliance standards such as FERPA. HIPAA, PCI, CUI, NIST, FEDRAMP, and others as they apply to information technology.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
This position will need to have advanced systems management and computer/technology support skills. Applicants will need to be fluent with active directory, group policy, imaging, and other aspects of desktop management. This position will also have advanced server and network administration skills. Applicants will need to be fluent with active directory, shell scripting, virtualization technology, and server administration in a multi-platform environment. Individuals must have familiarity with federal technical compliance guidelines from granting agencies such as NIH, NSF, and similar agencies.
Technical
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Advanced experience in the relevant technical field of expertise including active directory, group policy, desktop and server management, and security best practices.
- Experience utilizing endpoint management systems and industry-standard tools for desktop, learning, content management, and/or systems management services (e.g., Ivanti LANDesk, Munki, AMX Resource Management Suite, Crestron Fusion, GitHub/Lab, etc.).
- Experience with Active Directory.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP and experience with troubleshooting wired and wireless networking.
- Enterprise virtualization, server hardware, iSCSI/Fibre Channel Storage, Network-Attached Storage, and L2/L3 networking.
- Familiarity with common productivity and security applications.
- Cloud services experience with Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure platforms and components.
- Experience leading enterprise-level service planning/roadmaps and maintaining client-focused service-level and operational agreements.

Physical Demands
- This position spends long periods of time sitting, standing, and working on a computer.
- This position will lift and move technology-related equipment and furniture of various shapes and sizes independently or with assistance from colleagues periodically.
- This position will bend, squat, reach overhead, and climb ladders to access, disassemble, and/or install equipment periodically.
- This position includes walking to meet with clients in buildings that are geographically near each other and the individual's primary office.
- This position will coordinate with staff and providers, and participate in the safe moving of large rack-mounted server equipment and related components.

- Supervise and mentor team members.

- Maintenance and creation of technology roadmaps for the maintenance of existing and implementation of new technologies at a college-level.

- Oversee, participate, and lead multiple, complex projects with a college-wide scope.
